This sculpture is a popular tourist attraction and definately something you should see when you visit. It is free and you can have your photo taken with any one of the 22 figures.

The figures are positioned in different poses. Some appear to be deep in conversation with eachother, whilst others might be looking out to see.

One even seems to be checking her watch. Perhaps her husband is late back from the pub!

Locals sometimes affectionately refer to the figures as the ‘Weebles’ or ‘ the wobbly men’

There is a large car park at the Little Haven beach so you can drive there, park and have a good wonder around. You can see the weebles, walk the beach, watch the yachts or the jet skiers then walk along the pier to the Groyne Lighthouse. From here you can watch the ships and ferries enter and leave the mouth of the River Tyne.

If you get hungry or just fancy a cup of tea and a scone, you can pop in to the Little Haven Hotel, and sit in their conservetory and gaze out to sea, taking in the amazing South Shields view.

Not sure whether music was played when the figures were unveiled. Reckon if there was, they’d all have been dancing around though!
